House Moncrieff
The kitchen as seen from the living room. The cabinets define the kitchen space.

The area to the right of the microwave houses an integrated fridge.

The kitchen is made with solid alder cabinet exteriors and zebrano and stainless steel splashbacks.

The bath is clad in solid alder.

The staircase is clad in solid walnut.

Designed by Meyer & Vorster Architects, House Moncrieff in de Waterkant, Cape Town, has strong horizontal lines as its dominant aesthetic. This required us to create doors and partitioning walls that seemed frameless but still had structural integrity.Creating a seamless flow between fixed sides and opening doors was one of this project’s challenges.
